Jennifer is instructing Leading and junior counsel from the Public and Administrative Law and Human Rights teams in Doughty Street Chambers in London, in the GMC Injustice Judicial Review cases.

These cases arise from the admitted pre-determined sentences of erasure by the GMC of doctors from the medical register in 1987 and 1990.

Lady Justice Janet Smith and Lord Justice Thomas granted permission to judicially review the GMC in the case of Colman, when Lord Justice Thomas stated in the judgement:

“I appreciate we are giving leave in quite exceptional and unprecedented circumstances…It is plain that so serious a sanction taken against a professional individual as erasure from the medical record is of such a nature that if injustice was done, however long ago, it is time that it was remedied”

In the case of Hickey Sir Thayne Forbes granted permission on the precedent and also directed that the cases were heard together. The substantive hearing is listed at the Royal Courts of Justice in London for May 2010.
