Dr Colman will use her considerable experience at the General Medical Council to produce a series of articles here which will interest many, both in the medical profession and outside.

At the present time Dame Janet Smith has reported in her Fifth Report of the Shipman Inquiry, into the GMC and highlighted serious and continual failings of the GMC in respect of patients.

It is Dr Colman's belief that the true medical interest is the same as the public interest and any further reviews of the GMC should take into account not only how the GMC has failed patients but also how it has failed doctors.

The Chief Medical Officer, Sir Liam Donaldson, is now chairing a further review into the future of the GMC.
